NEDA, Japanese Experts visit RETP Projects PDF Print E-mail

The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and Japanese experts from the Japan Embassy visited the Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) last June 24, 2009.

The objective of their visit was to conduct field monitoring with the on-going project on Bitter Gourd Production and commercialization and Post Evaluation with the completed extension project on Aerobic Rice Technology.

Prior to this, orientation was done at RETP Office together with presentation of project status accomplishment.

They visited the Aerobic Rice demo farm of Mr. Gemencio Concepcion located in Mapanique, Candaba, Pampanga and also the Ampalaya demo farm of Mr. Roy Concepcion situated in Mataas na Parang, San Ildefonso, Bulacan.

Meanwhile, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) provides 300 M for the establishment of field experiment on seedling management under Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) for wet season 2009. Similar study was conducted last dry season of 2008-2009 and this study is expected to be completed on November 2009.

BASC conducts 7th Agency In-house Review PDF Print E-mail

Research Extension, Training and Production (RETP) Office conducted the 7th Agency In-house Review of on-going and completed research, extension and production projects at the RETP Office last June.

Dr. Conrado J. Oliveros, Director of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region III served as the keynote speaker. He shared his significant contributions in Agriculture Research and Development in the region. He also emphasized the role of BASC to the community in terms of Research and Development as well as giving challenges to face and consider in the future.

Dr. Julita P. Mendoza with her paper entitled “Verification trial on the Application of Biological Soil Conditioner and Organic Fertilizer on Solaneceous Crops” adjudged as the Best Paper in the Research Category.

Likewise, Mrs. Nita B. Vigilia won the Best Paper award for her project entitled “Technology Commercialization for Poverty Alleviation, Employment Generation and Sustainable Food Production” under the Development Category. Prof. Myrna S. Eguia on the other hand bagged the Best Paper award for her Aerobic Rice Seed Production in the Production Category.

Meanwhile for the Best Poster Award, Engr. Junel B. Soriano’s “Bitter Gourd, Better Guard; Dr. Josephine G. De Guzman’s “Techno Gabay Program; and Prof. Myrna S. Eguia’s “Aerobic Rice Seed Production” won the First, Second and Third place respectively.

Winners received certificates of Recognition and cash prizes.
